Hidden mechanics / GRAIN ROT
Secrets and overlooked mechanics
The most useful current GRAIN ROT secrets involve Spark recovery, healing damaged loot, different light effects, elevator symbol notes, extraction choices, and a community-tested Compass substitute for the Fuse.
A broken Vessel is not the end
When a Vessel breaks, the Living Spark remains active and can search for another host. Treat that moment as a timed recovery phase instead of abandoning the run immediately. At the Outpost, current video footage also shows the wardrobe as a way to recover a missing body, while carried items remain where the previous Vessel was lost.
Healing items can preserve loot
The 13-things video demonstrates a healing bottle being used on allies, Vessels, and damaged objects. Restoring an object can recover value that would otherwise be lost before extraction. This makes healing supplies part of the loot decision, not only an emergency health item.
Different lights affect Sparks differently
Current video tests distinguish static map lights from movable craftable lights. Static lights can stop Spark charge from falling, while a craftable light can refill it; Lantern and elevator light behavior differs in the same footage. Place a tested craftable light near the elevator when a team may need time to find a replacement Vessel.
Check the elevator symbol board
The board inside the elevator explains symbols the crew has already identified. A question mark means the corresponding information note has not been found yet, and the videos place those notes on fixed furniture such as shelves or workbenches. Collecting the note is safer than guessing what a modifier means during a valuable run.
Choose among scrap, Gold, and intact extraction
Furniture can be broken for scrap, processed for Gold, or carried out intact, and those outcomes serve different Outpost needs. The hidden-systems video warns against automatically smashing every object before deciding what the next upgrade requires. Measure a successful run by what it improves next, not only by the raw amount carried home.
Fuse locations and the Compass shortcut
The dedicated Fuse video says replacement Fuses appear in lockers or boxes, especially in rooms marked by boarded elements. It also demonstrates a Compass being placed in the broken elevator slot as a substitute. The normal Fuse is supported by official patch notes; the Compass interaction is a community-tested shortcut and may change.
Useful, not cheat content
This page covers interactions visible in normal gameplay: Spark recovery, lights, healing, elevator notes, loot choices, and the Fuse shortcut. It does not include trainers, save editing, cracked clients, or infinite-resource tools. Reproduce version-sensitive tricks in the current build before risking valuable loot.
