Enemy guide / GRAIN ROT
Enemies and counterplay
Identify GRAIN ROT enemies by sound and behavior, preserve a retreat route, and use corners, line-of-sight breaks, traps, or the extractor before committing to a fight. Individual enemy names here are community labels.
Start with sound, not a fight
The official material calls the hostile faction the Corrupted, while the collected video uses community names for individual mobs. Listen before entering a room, keep a retreat corner available, and leave a manageable enemy alive when fighting it would only roll a more dangerous replacement. Exact replacement rules remain video-reported rather than official.
Plague Doctor or Soul Reaper
The video identifies this threat by a distinctive sound and a spinning attack that separates the Spark from its Vessel. Break line of sight through several corners, recover stamina between sprints, and leave the Vessel in an open position that does not block the enemy's path. If fighting, the creator favors a gun because close-range timing can leave the empty Vessel exposed.
Eyeclops
Eyeclops attempts to hold the player's gaze and pull the Vessel toward it. Break eye contact with a wall or corner; leaving the Vessel can also interrupt the interaction in the recorded test. Its laser can be jumped, but the timing is less reliable than using solid cover.
Bat Guy
This slower enemy uses a charge and a close-range club attack. The video demonstrates baiting the charge into a wall or the extractor area, then using the opening to escape or activate the hazard. Because it loses interest relatively quickly, avoidance can be better than replacing it with an unknown spawn.
Stalker
The community-named Stalker stops while directly watched, then moves again when sight is broken. Use a long corridor to create distance while watching it, then turn several corners to disengage. Once attacked, the recorded behavior becomes more aggressive, so do not start a fight without a weapon or nearby hazard.
Skull Head
The flying Skull Head is identified by its propeller sound and ranged spit. The video advises targeting the propeller rather than the skull and warns that a straight sprint lets the faster enemy drain your stamina. Use repeated corners, ranged fire, or a suitable spike hazard rather than relying on pits that a flying target can ignore.
Bomb Baby and Rot Kid
Bomb Baby announces itself with laughter and a repeated call before lighting its explosive and chasing; wait for ignition, then use corners and distance until it detonates. Rot Kid follows at close range and raises the Rot meter without an immediate normal hit. Keep distance and avoid provoking it until you have a plan to trap, burn, or remove the infection.
Crawler
The Crawler becomes a persistent chase once it identifies the player and can close distance with a lunge. The recorded counters use the extractor, spike traps, or a gap that the enemy can be baited into. Avoid detection when possible, especially on higher layers where another threat can arrive during the setup.
Names and values are community labels
These individual names and counter timings come from the linked current gameplay video and Steam discussion, not an official bestiary. The official launch announcement confirms new enemies, a Boss Encounter, and Elite Encounters without publishing their full statistics. Recheck behavior after major patches and avoid copying exact damage numbers without a same-build test.
